Advantages and disadvantages of CNC tool holders

Anyone who knows something about CNC tools should know several tool handles, as well as basic tools. However, for the detailed classification of knife handles and the advantages and disadvantages of each large knife handle, I believe that everyone should not have a comprehensive understanding of them. Let me introduce it to you. The first is a relatively old-fashioned knife handle, a side fixed knife handle that uses two screws to fix the knife, which is simple and fast, and has a strong clamping force. However, versatility is not very good. Each type of tool handle can only be fitted with tools with the same handle neck.

The hot expansion knife handle, as you can see from the name, uses the method of heat expansion and cold contraction to heat it to a certain degree, and the clamping part of the knife handle is slightly enlarged. Put the knife in. After cooling, the tool is fixed. Its advantage is its high accuracy, typically within 2 um. The clamping force is relatively large, the support is good, and the radial runout is between 2um and 5um. However, each type of tool handle can only be installed with a tool of one handle diameter. Moreover, each tool change requires heating, which can cause greater damage to the tool handle. If it is made in Japan, it can only be used about 200 times, and if it is made in Germany, it can generally only be used about 600 times.

There is also a hydraulic tool handle. I personally think the design principle of this tool handle is very interesting. Using a hydraulic fixed tool handle, the accuracy is very high, and the end face runout is generally within 2 um. The clamping force is very strong and has good rigidity, which can transmit higher clamping torque. However, he has a very heartrending disadvantage, which is that the price is too expensive, which can be said to be the most expensive knife handle.

There is also the gradually popular cold pressing/GP tool handle, which is installed by a machine. The machine pushes the tool upward with a strong force. Due to the coating on its surface, it has a high durability, typically over 20000 times. Its clamping force is also very large. The disassembly and assembly time is short, and the circumferential radial runout is 0.003mm.

There are also many types of tool handles, such as the most commonly used spring chuck tool handles, which are fixed using spring chucks. There are also tapping tool handles that use screws to fix the tool, and so on.
