Drill chuck introduction and usage

Sep 04, 2024Leave a message

The drill chuck is composed of a drill sleeve, a tension ring, a connection block, and a back cover. In the drill sleeve, the axial positioning is achieved by using the connection block. By circumferentially toggling the jack, the axial movement is made under the action of the inner thread of the tension ring, and the drill tool is accurately and automatically centered and clamped under the action. When a drill chuck equipped with different tools (such as center drill, drill bit, reamer, tap, etc.) is needed during work, the positioning screw can be loosened, the fan-shaped body can be rotated to the required position, and the positioning screw can be tightened to realize the multi-position movement of the drill chuck. The three main parameters of the chuck are accuracy, clamping force and clamping range.

Precision is used to control the runout of the clamping handle tool to ensure the accuracy of the processed hole. The clamping force is to ensure that the clamped handle tool does not slip and prevent the handle tool from slipping and failing to work. Generally, the chuck used for bench drills has higher precision requirements, while the chuck used for hand drills has relatively lower precision. The clamping range is used to control the minimum and maximum diameters of the chuck clamping tool to meet work needs. Under normal circumstances, the maximum clamping range is only about 0.5mm larger than the specification of the chuck. If it exceeds too much, it will greatly waste materials and increase the production cost of the chuck. The minimum clamping range can theoretically be very small, but if it is too small, the manufacturer's scrap rate will increase and increase costs.

Therefore, considering all aspects, it is more reasonable to set the clamping range of 6, 10, 13, 16, and 20 mm chucks to 0.8-6, 0.8-10, 1.5-13, 3-16, and 5-20. The tapered hole on the back of the drill chuck is divided into B-type with B10, B16, B18, B22, B24 specifications and JT-type JT1, JT2, JT3, JT33 and other specifications. There are many kinds of drill chucks to choose from, which is generally determined according to your usage method.
